About the program

AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.

About the opportunity

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), within LM and our partnering organisations, resolving System and sub-system level requirements through decomposition and design, developing key interface definitions and representing these in the MBE Environment.

 

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

·       Deliver documentation of key system designs and their interfaces

·       Develop key AIR 6500 technical documents and artefacts such as solution descriptions, trade studies and definition of requirements

·       Drive development of requirements, configuration and acceptance methodology at the System and Sub-system levels

·       Resolve design and solution Trade-Offs against System Requirements

·       Contribute to scenario development, requirements analysis, design overarching System and Sub-system level capabilities

 

About you:

You will be an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong understanding of Model Based Systems Development (MBSD) and Model Based Engineering (MBE) principles.  Ideally you will hold a qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in a related discipline, or equivalent experience / combined education and have previously worked in a Defence environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

·     Significant professional experience in systems engineering using formal engineering methods

·     Significant experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, methods, tools and techniques

·     Well-developed knowledge in one or more of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (C4ISREW) domains

·     Substantial experience with development of systems design for large complex systems

·     Good experience trading off designs and solutions with an understanding of the potential component level, subsystem level, and system level impacts

·     Knowledge and experience undertaking Agile development

 

Demonstrated experience in the usage of requirements management tools (DOORS, DNG, or other) is also highly desirable.

 

Special Requirements:

Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and hold a current or re-instatable NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
