About Us:

Babcock Australasia, a leading provider of critical support services, is seeking an experienced Crypto Custodian to join our team. As the designated individual by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), you will play a crucial role in managing Government Furnished Equipment, Material, Facilities, Data, and Information (GFX), including Accountable COMSEC Material (ACM).

 

About the Role:

As the Crypto Custodian, your responsibilities include ensuring proper ACM handling, supporting the development of security artifacts, conducting inventories, and managing routine destruction. You will also coordinate with project representatives, actively identify mitigations, and contribute to a safe working environment.

Responsibilities: Core Duties:

  • Ensure ACM handling in accordance with ACSI 53F and operational security policies.
  • Support the development of COMSEC-related artifacts for JP9101.
  • Conduct or supervise required inventories per ACSI 53F.
  • Ensure timely posting of amendments to COMSEC publications and destruction of replaced pages.
  • Issue ACM only to appropriately cleared individuals, providing necessary advice.
  • Maintain records of hand receipts issued to users of GFX (including ACM).
  • Ensure routine destruction of ACM in accordance with COMSEC SPP.
  • Prepare, rehearse, and maintain SOPs and emergency plans for EDHFCS.
  • Handle ACM with approved systems, including correct packaging for transportation.
  • Inspect protective tech and report incidents of tampering.
  • Verify ACM received or transferred corresponds with the accompanying transfer report.
  • Ensure the facility only holds essential ACM for the mission.
  • Train users in proper ACM safeguarding and control procedures.
  • Coordinate GFX delivery and return with project representatives.

.Other Reasonable Duties:

  • Perform duties commensurate with the classification level.
  • Some intrastate and interstate travel may be required.

 

About you:

  • Previous experience as a Crypto Custodian.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results.

  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance at the following level;

    • AGSVA Negative Vetting – NV1

    • Ability to obtain AGSVA Negative Vetting – NV2
