COMSEC Officer (COMSECO)

 

Babcock Australasia is a leader in providing critical support services to various sectors, including defence. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced COMSEC Officer (COMSECO) to join our team. As a COMSEC Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient application of COMSEC measures within Babcock, as designated by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

 

About the Role:

As the COMSEC Officer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Babcock COMSEC Security Practices and Procedures (SPP) in strict accordance with ACSI 104B and 53F. Your role includes liaising with CASG for the procurement of CCIs and HACE, developing associated Key Management Plans (KMP), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and Site Security Plans (SSP). You will implement and monitor controls and safeguards outlined in the COMSEC SPP, ensuring compliance with ACSI 104. Additionally, you will manage nominations for COMSEC officer bearers, grant access to COMSEC material, conduct debriefings, and provide updated access lists to relevant authorities.

 

Responsibilities:

Core Duties:

  • Develop and maintain COMSEC Security Practices and Procedures (SPP) in accordance with ACSI 104B and 53F.
  • Liaise with CASG for procurement and develop associated plans (KMP, CONOPS, SSP).
  • Ensure implementation of controls and safeguards in the COMSEC SPP.
  • Submit nominations for COMSEC officer bearers to ASD for approval.
  • Grant access to COMSEC material and provide briefings to individuals with access.
  • Debrief individuals when necessary and maintain an updated access list.
  • Submit reports on matters affecting COMSEC material integrity to the Director ASD.
  • Ensure unauthorized access is prevented through various measures, including maintaining files, conducting routine destruction, and managing combinations for storage facilities.
  • Conduct musters and safeguard combinations according to ACSI 53F.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a COMSECO.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results.
