The role

 

As our Project Infrastructure Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Part of the Babcock Mission Systems Dreadnought Team you’ll be embedded into the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) to play a key part in overseeing the successful progression and completion of Dreadnought Strategic Weapon System Training Infrastructure.

 

Based in Trident Training Facility, you’ll work day-to-day with key stakeholders to ultimately achieve the operational readiness of training at the facility. Working with our SDA customers to track and communicate progress, spend, and risks of the developing training facility, your valued insight and organisation skills will help the submarine community to achieve our goals and support the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet:

 

  • Be the main point of contact for major aspects of Dreadnought SW training infrastructure, coordinating with UK and US government agencies and contractors.
  • Lead on defining, costing, bounding, and managing essential training infrastructure and material tasks to help deliver a training solution fit for the future.
  • Investigate the current planning and status of the procuring, building, and commissioning of the training and training support facilities and report to key stakeholders in both written and verbal formats.  
  • Identify, report, and mitigate risks by working with the team to create plans to succeed.
  • Act as TTF Training Point of Contact to wider communities including support to parent Mission Systems team on Dreadnought Common Missile Compartment (CMC) Training matters.

 

Essential experience of the Project Infrastructure Lead

 

You will be an excellent communicator and be able to articulate technical and project requirements to those around you. You will need to demonstrate the motivation to drive issues to completion. We are looking for:

 

  • Great interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with project management tools and policy, project controls, life cycles, schedules, and risks.
  • Experience with submarine / maritime in-service support.
  • Experience of the Submarine Weapon Systems and related platform systems (Vanguard and /or Dreadnought). Strategic Weapon Support Systems experience is highly desirable. 

 

The role is full time and based in HMNB Clyde with opportunities for hybrid working, infrequent travel around the UK and abroad may be required. 

 

Qualifications for the Project Infrastucture Lead

 

  •  A Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate or BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in engineering or project management.
  •  Actively working towards membership with a professional engineering or project body.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / security clearance for this role.
