About the Role

You will define requirements, specify the design, support the integration and implementation of the software and server infrastructure in support of the needs for the Defence High Frequency Communication System.

 

Key responsibilities will also include:

  • Develop the requirements and design for a virtualised server architecture for the mission system element for a defence system that supports both Linux and Windows software applications.
  • Delivery a robust computer systems architecture, with support from our Cyber Security partners, that provides a platform to support hosted applications across multiple security domains and across regionally diverse locations.
  • Delivery of a resilient and robust virtualised server architecture within each deployed location.
  • Determine and configure the base operating system and set of supported software services to be provided by the system architecture.
  • Design and develop a system provisioning pipeline that allows system and software packages to be remotely updated across the deployed locations.
  • Support the Security Accreditation of the system providing SME advice regarding the implementation of the system controls.
  • Establish technical specifications for computer system equipment acquisitions.
  • Support the integration of computing system architecture elements into a wider system with consideration of both functional and physical aspects.
  • Delivery of system budget calculations demonstrating design suitability to support the computing needs for the system.
  • Provide a structured approach relating to needs analysis, problem definition, requirements analysis and definition, systems design and verification/validation of solutions.
  • Deliver high quality solutions that meet customers’ expectations and comply with contractual obligations.
  • Through analysis ensure compliance with all relevant WHS and associated technical legislation.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation throughout engagement with the business and customer.
  • Ensure integrity of data held on the business IT systems and system development as determined by contractual need.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry ‘best practice’ and provide regular updates to the business and customers of news and developments within the industry sectors

 

About you

You will Degree qualified ICT professional, Software Engineer (or equivalent) and have experience in design, implementation or support of terrestrial defence mission system computing systems.

 

You will also have:

    • Proven technical management skills
    • Good Analytical Skills
    • Good Interpersonal skills

 

Lastly it would be desirable if you have a certificate, or completed training, in design of visualised or containerised systems, from an industry leading body and have a background in either Defence / Defence Industry
