About the Role

Babcock is currently seeking a Purchasing Officer to become an integral part of one of our Defence contracts. In this position, you will play a key role in procuring goods and services for our Australian Defence Force Ground Support Equipment contract (ADFGSE). We have established a strategic partnership with the Australian Defence Force for the efficient asset management of the common GSE fleet.
 

Your responsibilities will include preparing and issuing purchase orders through both Babcock’s and our clients’ ERP systems. You will actively contribute to ensuring the timely delivery of orders from suppliers, monitoring their performance against contractual obligations. Additionally, the role involves implementing effective processes to manage supplier and inventory-related activities, aiming to minimise risks in the areas of quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
 

In this role, you will be involved in reviewing and updating processes, aligning them with continuous improvement strategies. Your focus will be on enhancing the efficiency of inventory and purchasing processes, contributing to the overall success of Babcock’s operations.
 

You will bring
 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain and/ or Logistics.
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc) and ERP systems.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Experience with MILIS in Defence Inventory Management, Governance and Stocktaking.  
  • Australian Citizen with a current Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
