Gilmour Space is the leading Australian rocket company, pioneering next-generation hybrid propulsion technologies for small satellite launch vehicles.

Are you a Propulsion Engineer with the expertise to engineer and develop turbopumps from start to finish? Well, we are hiring for a Propulsion Engineer to develop in-house capability and know-how to design, manufacture, and test turbopumps and all necessary sub-systems. You will also be required to document and communicate across teams to ensure duties are performed in an efficient and timely manner whilst adhering to Gilmour Space policies and procedures.

How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

  • Design and development work of turbopumps for liquid and hybrid rocket engines.
  • Assist in manufacturing and integration of turbopump components and sub-systems
  • Design and manufacture of turbopump test stands.
  • Participate in test reviews of turbopumps and related components as required.
  • Other duties as requested by Management

Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors (BS) degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role (e.g., developing turbopumps for rocket systems)
  • NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Experience with the design of turbo machinery and pumps for (cryogenic fluids is a plus)
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software packages
  • Ability to perform calculations and analysis of turbopump systems
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
