Job Description

About the Role

This position plays a key role in the financial management and reporting functions of Penten and is responsible for overseeing financial and audit activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and influencing strategic decision making. Specifically, this role will:

  • Complete the monthly analysis of financial results, including identifying and facilitating improvements to financial reporting, processes and systems for accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare complex accounting treatment assessments, policies and procedures and financial statements in compliance with the Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Work with external tax specialists for submission of R&D tax incentive, income tax returns, ASIC submissions and other compliance activities.
  • Lead the annual audit process through to sign off including preparation of workpapers, liaising with auditors, addressing audit queries and making and implementing recommendations from audit reports to strengthen internal controls.
  • Facilitate the monthly and annual financial close, ensuring all period-end processes and journals have been completed correctly and in a timely manner.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation laws.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex business requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to articulate financial concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications & Eligibility

To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a CA or CPA qualification.
  • Be an Australian citizen with an AGSVA NV1 clearance or higher (or be eligible and willing to undergo the process)
  • Be proficient in financial reporting software and ERP systems.
