Learn the art of machining supported by the industry recognised pathway and from some of the best in arena of machining (Milling and Turning) here in Australia. Increasing and generating your knowledge within machining, you will support the production team to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing department. Document and communicate across all stakeholders in an efficient and timely manner whilst adhering to Gilmour Space policies and procedures. You will have a desire to learn, an eye for detail and an acceptance of listening to more experienced and knowledgeable people to further your own understanding of machining.

How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.

• Attend training provider on designated days and ensure that apprenticeship documentation is to the best possible standard against the relevant deadlines
• Interpret technical drawings and execute to tasks
• Apply learnings to tasks allocated
• Fabricate and assemble hardware / tooling as needed as per experience allows
• Hands on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies
• Use various equipment and mechanical tools
• Assist with the operate and maintain hardware
• Follow good manufacturing practice whilst providing ongoing maintenance and organization of toolroom equipment
• Supporting other manufacturing tasks as dictated by the needs of the business
• Abide by company safety & quality processes and procedures
• Other duties as requested by Management

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Desire to complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Machining)
• Experience working on projects/hobbies, using power, hand and calibrated tools.
• Enjoy working with your hands to deliver quality results
• A genuine interest in Mechanical related activities
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to complete tasks
• Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude
• Willingness to listen, learn, and follow instructions
• Desire and willingness to assist other team members in the general day to day running of the department.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
