About the role

The HSEQ Manager – East leads a team of HSE and Quality Assurance professionals across all Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) Programs within the New South Wales region. Driving our “Safety First” and “Right First Time” culture, you’ll work with internal and external stakeholders, contractors and subcontractors across the program, creating a consistent approach in line with our Safety, Environment and Quality Management Systems and program specific HSEQ plans.

Responsibilities could include:
 

Provide assurance that all employees and stakeholders meet NSM’s obligations to our HSEQ management systems; Collaborate with, coach and mentor internal stakeholders to ensure HSEQ responsibilities are understood and delivered; Responsible for the development and execution of the in region internal audit program ensuring audits are completed and recorded, managing corrective, remedial and preventative action in relation to the system; Implement, maintain and continuously improve the HSEQ management systems and site specific HSEQ plans to the Programs operations derived from the overarching Babcock Australasia policies and identify initiatives to maintain and improve standards.
 

Ideally you will have:
 

Australian Citizenship with current Defence security clearance (or ability to obtain); Vocational or Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety, Environment or Quality Management (or other relevant field); Qualification as a ISO9001, 45001 or Integrated Management System Lead Auditor; Demonstrated experience in a HSEQ leadership role within high risk or high reliability industry (i.e. Aviation, Marine, Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction or Engineering); Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, codes and standards; Experience in the development of audit programs and schedules and conducting operational HSEQ audits.

This position will work within our subsidiary Naval Ship Management (NSM), which provides asset management solutions to the Australian maritime sector. Working closely with supply chain partners, NSM provides cost-effective and responsive solutions that optimise the availability, capability, and seaworthiness of critical maritime assets. NSM supports assets across the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet – most notably the Anzac Class Frigates as a member of the Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA) and the Canberra Class Landing Helicopter Docks (LHD), LHD Landing Craft (LLC) and associated assets as the Asset Class Prime Contractor.
