Role Overview

Accountable for system integration, software configuration management and preparation for testing, and maintenance of the development / integration environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage/coordinate the integration and set-to-work of software packages and software builds for CAE training devices
  • Maintain functional communication and coordination between hardware and software developers and specialty engineering disciplines
  • Coordinate and prepare simulator systems to enable the verification of subsystems as well as support V&V and Systems Acceptance testing with the customer
  • Update and maintain Software Item configuration for simulator host computers, visual systems, and computer based peripheral hardware
  • Configure, develop and manage development and integration environments to maintain configuration control using tools such Github, StarTeam, SimEx, ClearCase, Launchpad etc.
  • Review and troubleshooting simulator architecture, systems networking and I/O
  • Support the maintenance of hardware and software for Host and Visual systems
  • Support and maintain the development and integration software back-up regimes
  • Participate in project reviews (DDR/TRR etc) as required
  • Develop the integration plan for software integration
  • Generate integration/software status reports
  • Identify and report risk issues to project teams
  • Prepare or contribute to configuration documentation required for training device incorporation in accordance with CAE Engineering Management Systems
  • Provide training to support engineers or maintenance teams as required

Essential Requirements

– Undergraduate degree in an Engineering discipline (Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical or related areas)
– Eligible for membership to the Institute of Engineers Australia.
– Five years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
– Experience in Simulator software architecture and hardware interfaces
– Experience in Configuration Management and Control Processes
– Familiar with C, C++ and FORTRAN
– Eligible to gain a Defence security clearance (Australian citizens only)

Desirable

– Exposure to SIM XXI-based interfaces.
– Development and Execution tools (CAELIB, STARTEAM, STRIVE, Launch Pad, Visual Systems, etc)
– Systems Engineering Management tools (DOORS, SimIssues, etc)
– Scripting languages such as PERL and ANT
– Windows Admin – Active Directory and group policies etc.

Note: as the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance. Australian citizens only.
