  • Permanent Full Time Role
  • Located at HMAS Albatross, Nowra

Role Responsibilities 

  • Perform Microsoft Active Directory administration tasks, including user/group management, account creation, security permissions and group policies
  • Linux security administration and account management
  • Analysis of system and security event logs
  • Perform vulnerability scans
  • Report security deficits/vulnerabilities to IT Security Manager (ITSM)
  • Assist IT Security Manager (ITSM) to maintain and improve security posture as per the strategic security plan developed by IT Security Manager.
  • Security incident reporting and analysis
  • Perform secure data control operations
  • Provide security advice to projects and engineering changes relating to the simulator
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT security manager for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Maintain security on infrastructure including, laptop & desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, security updates, LANs, and network segments
  • Sanitisation of computer hardware and network devices in accordance with ISM requirements
  • Audit IT hardware, Network Equipment and cabling
  • Update and maintain security applications and license management
  • Provide ICT security briefings to Engineers and Maintenance personnel
  • Perform security risk assessments based on Defence Risk Management Framework
  • Ongoing routine updates and improvements to Standard Operating Procedures

Skills and Experience 

Required

  • 3-5 years of network administration, or system administration experience
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Knowledge of UNIX based Operating System (AIX, Linux etc.)
  • Knowledge of Patch management (Windows, Linux & VMware)
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, network devices, and protocols
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Information Security Manual (ISM), Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
  • Applicants must have Australian Government Negative Vetting-1 clearance (NV-1)

Desirable

  • System hardening experience
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of corporate Anti-virus products (Symantec Endpoint Protection, Trend Micro, Windows Defender etc.)
  • Networking knowledge (Cisco switches and firewalls)
  • Event log monitoring/auditing (Splunk, Kiwi) experience is highly desirable but not essential
  • Certification in server administration (Windows or Linux)
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification

Note: as the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
