Navantia’s productive partnership with the Royal Australian Navy began with the contracts to design the Hobart Class guided missile destroyers (DDG); and continued with the design and co-manufacture of the Canberra Class amphibious assault ships (LHD), the construction of twelve LHD landing craft (LLC), and the build and sustainment of the two Supply Class replenishment ships (AOR).
Following being contracted in 2015 to deliver shipyard management services in support of the Hobart Class build, we met all budget and schedule milestones. This strengthened our collaboration with the Commonwealth and provided a sound platform to support future Royal Australia Navy programs.
Navantia Australia is committed to continuing our partnership with the Commonwealth to support the sustainment of Royal Australia Navy capabilities, with a focus on the ships designed by Navantia, which represent 110,000 tonnes, or over 60% of the Australian Surface Fleet. Navantia Australia combines best of breed Asset Management capabilities with product design knowledge and efficient access to the supply chain.
