In this role you will:

• Provide input to the Commonwealth’s assessment of the technical design and solutions as part of the WASS SPO Phase 6 Surveillance and Sounders & Transponders (S&T) Systems in the areas of HF Radar and RF design
• Support the WASS SPO Phase 6 Systems IPT Team in the design assurance of system level artefacts related to the Surveillance and S&T Systems
• Provide subject matter expertise to assist with Commonwealth delivery and support of the integration of Technical GFM assigned to the Surveillance IPT Team
• Support the JORN V&V program, particularly in the area of RF design and test, including applicable Radar system functional and performance requirements, including E3 requirements
• Ensure Surveillance System and S&T designs satisfy Commonwealth allocated System performance requirements
• Support technical risk identification and mitigation by providing expert advice that informs design reviews and technical program planning in the areas of RF design
• Provide expertise for management of RADHAZ within the JORN mission and support systems
• Support production of relevant Independent Verification & Validation Plans and Procedures by providing expertise in the areas of Radar and RF Test and Evaluation and Procedures

About you:

To be successful in securing this position, you will have demonstrated skills and experience within the below areas:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Radar Frequency/ Electrical Electronic and or Signal Processing) and/or equivalent relevant experience (within the defence industry)
• Knowledge of the JORN Radars and/or working history on JORN or a related area, such as microwave radar is desirable
• Strong understanding of engineering methods, design and development
• Strong knowledge and experience in Hardware / Systems Engineering, including Requirements Engineering and Acceptance Test and Evaluation (i.e. V&V, OT&E)
• Understanding of RADHAZ and Compliance/Legislative requirements as these relate to RF engineering related design activities (i.e. E3 experience) is desirable
• Demonstrated strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with personnel at different levels and from various disciplines
