Your responsibilities will include:
This is an excellent opportunity to work on the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) program, Australia’s biggest surface combatant ship project to date. This role offers location flexibility and can be based either in Osborne, SA or Melbourne CBD.
The Senior Safety Engineer – Naval Combat System is responsible for the coordination and delivery of safety expertise and environmental management for Hunter Class Combat System.
You will primarily be responsible for:
- Provide guidance to the warfare domains as to the maturity, quantity and quality required by the WOS safety arguments
- Development of safety & environmental arguments for complex systems (including software)
- Selection and execution of the most appropriate and recognised hazard identification, analysis and risk classification / reduction techniques
- Derivation, management and agreement of safety requirements
- Management of legislative compliance issues relation to safety & environmental
- Interface between CS safety activities and the Hunter WOS safety activities
- Ensuring that safety artefacts prepared by within the CS Warfare domains are compliant to the WOS safety case artefacts requirements
- Ensuring that the CS warfare domains understand the WOS safety
About you:
To be successful in securing this position, you will have:
- Significant experience and demonstrated specialist knowledge in System Safety
- Advanced leadership in the planning and implementation of System Safety Programs
- Extensive experience in requirements engineering, the derivation of requirements and allocation of specifications for hierarchical systems
- Excellent ability to support cost estimating tasks and planning efforts for system safety engineering activities
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering concepts, including requirements, integration, verification and acceptance
- Training and/or certification in system safety engineering
- Significant knowledge of CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129 and their application to the lifecycle of a system (desirable)
