Your responsibilities will include:

This is an excellent opportunity to work on the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) program, Australia’s biggest surface ship project till date. Based in Osborne, South Australia, it’s a permanent full-time position. You will be a part of the embedded team working on Combat Systems. This role contributes to the delivery of the synthetic environment, simulation and integration tools in the test facility. Primarily you will:

  • Undertake the design, development and delivery of the Synthetic Environment simulation and integration tools
  • Provide advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders on Synthetic Environment design, implementation and delivery matters
  • Carry out engineering assignments using your wide combination of Simulation, Systems and Hardware engineering knowledge and experience
  • Oversee Synthetic Environment needs, alternatives and obtain stakeholder agreement on the recommended solution
  • Oversee simulators and validate their suitability to support system integration and testing in the testing facility
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with engineering SMEs to learn from their experiences and adopt recommendations into the design
  • Contribute to and support the wider HCF team by undertaking related system engineering activities, as directed by the Engineering Manager

 

About you:

To be successful in securing this position, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Software) or similar, and/or equivalent relevant experience preferably within the defence industry
  • This role would suit a Simulation Engineer with technical skills in hardware or a Hardware Engineer with simulation skills.
  • Well-developed technical knowledge of mechanical systems and system architecture
  • Significant experience in interpreting and analysing technical data
  • Significant experience in conducting complex systems engineering activities ensuring compliance against relevant policies
  • Previous experience working with Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) environments would be an advantage
