The Program

The Lockheed Martin AEGIS Combat System is at the forefront of advanced naval technology and provides the strategic advantage for Defence.

Supporting a rolling-wave of upgrades that enhance the integrated air and missile defence capability, Lockheed Martin Australia’s team is the combat system design agent for the AEGIS upgrade for Australia’s three Hobart-class Destroyers.  As the prime for AEGIS working directly for the Commonwealth of Australia, our team will integrate the next generation weapon systems and new sophisticated capabilities to the heart of the complex command and control system.

The Role

The Engineering Change Management Engineer is responsible for providing engineering change management, facilitation, and support services for Combat System upgrade packages that are to be installed on in-service Aegis Combat System-equipped naval platforms within the RAN fleet.

Some of your duties would include:

  • Support the development of engineering change packages for implementation
  • Support oversight of technical work products generated to support the definition, analysis, and documentation of Engineering Changes
  • Support coordination, evaluation, and disposition of changes by the appropriate Configuration Control Authority within the Customer organisation
  • Contribute to identification and classification of Engineering Changes to a known configuration state (i.e., baseline) for affected elements of the Mission and/or Support systems
  • Contribute to the development of processes and procedures to ensure repeatability and efficiency in the execution of Engineering Change activities
  • Coordinate engineering and support activities required to effectively define, analyse, and detail the engineering changes in accordance with defined processes
  • Provide advice and guidance to engineering teams with respect to source and structure of combat system changes.

Location – Adelaide or Sydney

About You

  • Experience in coordinating and implementing multiple Engineering Changes within a large Defence Program
  • Exposure to coordinating Engineering Change across the Systems Engineering Lifecycle within a large Defence Program
  • Experience in the use of the DOORS requirements management tool
  • Substantial experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements definition and analysis methods
  • Professional communication skills, including technical writing and the ability to develop/publish high-quality artefacts
