The Program

The Lockheed Martin AEGIS Combat System is at the forefront of advanced naval technology and provides the strategic advantage for Defence.

Supporting a rolling-wave of upgrades that enhance the integrated air and missile defence capability, Lockheed Martin Australia’s team is the combat system design agent for the AEGIS upgrade for Australia’s three Hobart-class Destroyers.  As the prime for AEGIS working directly for the Commonwealth of Australia, our team will integrate the next generation weapon systems and new sophisticated capabilities to the heart of the complex command and control system.

The Role

The Topside Senior Engineer will form part of a Transversal Team which is responsible for supporting the engineering activities to the upgrade of the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyers.

They will contribute to integrated topside design which includes managing unique elements such as EMI/EMC/co-site analysis, signatures, survivability and other specialty engineering domains.

The Engineer will also provide advice and analysis for the change managers to support the development of engineering change packs within the Program.

Some of your duties will include:

• Apply Systems Engineering Methodologies to manage the design of the Hobart Class Combat System
• Collaborate with a diverse team made up of government and international partners to develop the Hobart Class AWD

Location – Adelaide or Sydney

About You

Experience across systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements definition and analysis methods, test and integration.
Experience within test and evaluation to naval platforms or complex military systems
Risk identification and mitigation experience
Experience within the defence sector
Strong communication skills, technical writing and be able to publish high quality artefacts
Relevant engineering qualification and other memberships or certifications
