Job Description

DefendTex are seeking someone with a background in autonomous vehicles to join an expanding team working on the development of cutting-edge Defence technologies. The successful applicant will be required to work on integrating autonomous control to a prototype robotic ground platform.

The successful applicant will assist in designing and physically developing prototype Defence systems. The role will involve extensive testing to inform and optimise the respective systems. The role will also require the development of a manufacturing process for the candidate systems.

About this role:

·       Developing the system hardware requirements to enable autonomous function

·       Developing the software to enable autonomous function

·       Carrying out critical design reviews and design optimisation

·       Working as part of a multi-disciplinary development team

·       Manufacturing test samples and prototypes

·       Assisting in testing campaigns including field testing

·       Applied research in the field of military technologies

About you:

Essential:

·       Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software, robotics, Mechatronics) or equivalent

·       Experience on developing autonomous platforms

·       3D CAD modelling expertise (SolidWorks preferred)

·       Good understanding of engineering materials: specifically, lightweight alloys, steels, polymers and composites

·       Hands-on, practical approach to engineering problem solving

·       Not be a prohibited person under Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1996 (Victoria)

Desirable:

·       Experience with MATLAB software suite (Simulink, Simscape and multibody)

·       Strives to learn in a dynamic work environment

·       Basic understanding of ground vehicles

·       Experience in an R&D role

·       Strives in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
