Principal Safety Engineer
- Located in Adelaide or Melbourne.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager Product Safety, the Principal Safety Engineer will join the Product Integrity Function and will support management of the Product Safety System across Australasia. In particular, the role seeks to develop and implement Safety Engineering standards within Babcock Australasia as part of its System Engineering capability.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the development and management of the safety engineering capability, encompassing our people, processes, tools and data, to meet the current and future needs of Babcock Australasia across all of our products.
- Lead the development and implementation of plans and procedures to ensure that the products (goods and services) we provide to our customers are safe.
- Monitor the maturity and health of safety systems.
- Apply knowledge and experience to guide, produce and review technical solutions and documentation that enable safety engineering.
- Carry out technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and process improvements.
- Deliver and monitor assigned tasks and projects ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality and cost objectives.
- Ensure capability and project risks for safety engineering are communicated appropriately to relevant stakeholders and leadership.
About you
As an experienced safety engineer, you welcome the opportunity to establish and improve systems of work for your fellow safety engineers and to enable them to deliver the best possible product. Ideally, you have experience with System Safety Standards (such as MIL-STD-882E and DEF-STAN 00-056) which equips you to develop and implement Safety Engineering plans, procedures, analyses and reports, and to assess the maturity and health of safety programs. You have demonstrated the ability to define and implement safety engineering requirements effectively and pragmatically. You appreciate the importance of relationships and networks to achieving your goals. Your communication skills, detail focus, and initiative have helped you to succeed in the past, and you look forward to contributing to a supportive culture of continuous improvement.
You hold an accredited (Under Washington Accord) Bachelor of Engineering Degree and are eligible to obtain Professional Engineer membership through a recognised body.
