The Opportunity

Location: Perth, WA or Melbourne VIC
Full-time (38 hrs p/week)
Workplace type: Hybrid

Working as part of the Sea to Summit Defence Business Unit (DBU), but in collaboration with Design, Development and Purchasing Teams, the Technical Services Coordinator (TSC) will be responsible for producing, sourcing, and updating artefacts in support of both Project and Sustainment elements of the LAND 125 Phase 4 Field Equipment (L125Ph4FE) program. The TSC will work closely with stakeholders in Defence and Defence Industry to ensure that the engineering related compliance requirements of the program are met and maintained. As required, the TSC will conduct Quality Assurance audits on product at various locations around Australia, and with reference to the artefacts created for that purpose.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Sea to Summit DBU and other Sea to Summit Teams to produce technical artefacts including but not limited to:
  • Codification Data Sheets, Operation Handbook Manuals, Quality Control Checklists and other items of ‘Technical Data or TD’ (as it is defined in the ASDEFCON (Complex Materiel) Volume 2 contracting suite and associated Commonwealth Technical Data and Intellectual Property Frameworks)
  • Communicate with and assist Defence Industry subcontractors and suppliers in producing and delivering appropriate TD for the Commonwealth
  • Ensure that Sea to Summit Quality Assurance (QA) processes are aligned with the expectations and requirements of Defence. As needed, conduct QA checks on products at various locations across Australia to ensure product compliance.
  • Be the principal point of contact between Sea to Summit DBU and the Land Engineering Agency (LEA), attending meetings and leading communication on behalf of Sea to Summit.
  • Exercise due diligence by taking responsible steps to acquire and keep up to date with relevant Defence
  • Industry technical knowledge, and communicating said information with relevant bodies within STS (e.g. QA)
  • Attend formal meetings and events with stakeholders from both Defence and Defence Industry at various locations across Australia and Internationally as required.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications/ Training

The following would be advantageous.
Draftsperson Experience/Qualification.
A BA in Industrial and Product Design (or equivalent)
Training/experience with CAD software
Completed the “Defence Work Experience Program” through Defence Youth

Experience

  • Experience working with a Land Systems Division project, and familiarity with Land Material Safety Manual, the Land Domain Engineering Management System and the Configuration Management Tool – Land an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of the Defence technical document writing standards; Defence Standard DEF (AUST) 5629B, ‘Production of Military Technical Manuals Standard’ and DELOGMAN ‘Defence Logistics Manual’.
    Aptitude and experience for interpreting technical engineering information (drawings and manuals) an advantage.

Skills

  • Ability to handle technical Defence related regulations (N4 library, Australian Defence Standards (DEF(AUST)), Military Standards (MIL) and Class societies an advantage.
  • Holding or ability to gain a Basesline (AGSVA) Security Clearance an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Objective (insitec), Siemens Teamcenter PLM software, and MILIS an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of the NATO Codification system.
  • Ability to effectively present the requirements of ADF into a format that is clearly intelligible for all potential stakeholders, including those who may not have a Defence or Defence industry background.
  • Demonstrated ability to present findings to an array of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work within high performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and collaborate with team members.
