How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering, mission specialist and operations teams to design, build, test world class launch vehicles to deliver best in market launch services
  • Support and coordinate, and where appropriate direct technical teams to design, build, test and deliver high performing, low cost, reliable launch vehicles and launch services
  • Work with key stakeholders to manage the overall performance of all launch vehicle product and launch services related efforts
  • Manage schedule, budget, and documentation for multiple launch vehicle programs throughout the entire development and operations lifecycle
  • Manage and continually evaluate costs within aggressive budgets
  • Identify issues and risks, both technical or otherwise, problems solve solutions and rapidly implement fixes to ensure effective and efficient execution
  • Design and communicate launch vehicle business strategies and ambitious goals internally, driving execution with limited resources to achieve milestones rapidly through the efficient, effective, prioritised and focussed allocation of time, effort and resources
  • Follow the progress of internal and external activities to ensure timelines are met
  • Lead regular review meetings with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and communicate progress and issues
  • Prepare, coordinate, and chair presentations and design reviews
  • Actively consult with relevant people and departments to ensure program activities are achieved and issues are resolved quickly
  • Provide comprehensive reporting as required by the Director Launch Vehicles & Satellites or Chief Executive Officer
  • Work with the Human Resource Department in the recruitment and training of employees
  • Other duties as requested by Management

 

Supervision:

  • Provide leadership, motivation, and direction in the day to day running of employees reporting to this position, ensuring it is managed effectively by setting clear targets / KPI’s and monitoring these in line with expectations
  • To manage performance of the team, ensuring that any shortfalls in performance are managed and reported
  • To ensure all workers are inducted and operate to the company’s policies/procedures including casuals, contractors & visitors on site
  • To complete Performance Appraisals in line with Gilmour Space policy and procedures
  • To ensure that the team receive adequate training and development necessary to meet the needs of the business

 

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Sustained enthusiasm and interest in space technology and its application for space commercialisation and exploration
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace program and engineering leadership
  • 2+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and or operations specialists
  • Exceptional work ethic, initiative, attention to detail and ability to obtain and retain new information
  • Demonstrated resilience, decision making and ability to work well in a safety critical, dynamic environment
  • NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred

  • Excellent knowledge of program management processes
  • Experience in strategy, development, and execution of plans/projects
  • Working experience of ERP systems (SAP, Fishbowl)
  • Previous Management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation/requirements
  • Advance level in Microsoft Office applications
