About the Role
 

An excellent opportunity for you to join Babcock’s expanding Procurement team, where you’ll be involved in a range of Defence Maritime Sustainment programs. In this role, you’ll be tasked with overseeing the strategic upstream activities within our Defence contract. Your primary responsibility will be to foster supplier relationships by adhering to best practices that align with Babcock’s corporate objectives.
 

Your duties will encompass guiding comprehensive contract negotiations with both existing and potential suppliers. You’ll also play a vital role in supporting and monitoring key initiatives to maximise cost savings and overall benefits. Furthermore, your role will involve optimising cost-effectiveness, meeting stakeholder needs and expectations, and implementing a systematic approach to identify and manage supply chain risks. This approach is crucial in order to prevent, mitigate, or eliminate adverse impacts on Babcock and our valued customers.
 

You will bring
 

  • Proven commercial acumen and negotiator, with thorough understanding of category management, supply chain mechanisms and risk assessment.
  • Proven supply base management and strategic sourcing skills in a highly complex and regulated environment.
  • Understanding of contract principles, with exposure to complex contracts, ideally ASDEFCON.
  • Practitioner of procurement policies, processes and procedures related to category management.
  • The ability to conduct detailed cost analysis, compare costs using TCO principles, and calculate should-costs.
  • Experience in operational and engineering services-based supply chain environment is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
