Domain Engineering Manager – Aviation

About the role

Reporting into the Executive Director of Engineering Technology and Programmatics (ETaP), you will lead and drive activities to enable current and future excellence in engineering capability across our Aviation Domain. You will support the Head Engineering Capability to drive professional development and standards of the regional engineering function. This will ensure sustainability over the future program and with an ethos of continuous improvement and a healthy questioning safety culture. You will also support business development opportunities, working closely with our Future Business and Strategy teams in raising the Babcock profile.
Passionate about building and developing capability you will manage resource demands and development of capability skills, to match needs of future workload for Aviation Projects.  Leveraging off your technical expertise and significant leadership experience, you will coach and mentor members of the team, including early careers support.
 

What will you bring

 

  • Engineering Degree qualified preferably with, or working towards chartered professional engineer (CPEng) status and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering roles in aviation, preferably in a Defence Aviation Environment
  • Experience in  practical engineering of aircraft changes, test & trials and associated planning.
  • Knowledge of Civil & Defence Aviation Regulation & Standards,
  • Experience of customer (internal or external) interaction and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • A desire to implement continuous improvement activities
  • Australian Citizen with a current Defence security clearance or the ability to obtain.
