About the role

The Production Manager is responsible for the execution of maintenance activities in a safe manner through planning, managing and controlling of personnel and materials to ensure production activities achieve timely performance, compliance with customer requirements, contractual obligations and maximise efficiencies for RAN maintenance periods.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the production team, to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands,
  • Lead and direct team members, in accordance with Babcock principles, aligned with Babcock’s strategy and objectives,
  • Lead quality assurance for production work to be completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and correct work practices are always engaged,
  • Lead and promote the health and safety of everyone who works for and supports Babcock,
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and present weekly project dashboard,
  • Prepare and review the integrated master schedule and project risk register to deliver planned maintenance activity objectives,
  • Prepare requisitions and review subcontractor submissions to deliver maintenance activity objectives,   
  • Attend site meetings with the project team to discuss progress of project, HSE compliance and other project issues; and
  • Attend progress, safety, and contractor meetings, providing advice and direction as required.

 

About you

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Trade background and experience to equivalent;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining delivery to high technical and quality standards;
  • Project Management Systems experience;
  • Proven background building and retaining a highly energised team;
  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence;
  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting-1 level;
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card);
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a large marine engineering or construction project environment (Desired);
  • Contract Administration experience (Desired);
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and maintain morale of subordinates (Desired); and
  • Wide range of experience, knowledge and networking in the Defence Industry (Desired).

This position will work within our subsidiary Naval Ship Management (NSM), which provides asset management solutions to the Australian maritime sector. Working closely with supply chain partners, NSM provides cost-effective and responsive solutions that optimise the availability, capability, and seaworthiness of critical maritime assets. NSM supports assets across the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet – most notably the Anzac Class Frigates as a member of the Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA) and the Canberra Class Landing Helicopter Docks (LHD), LHD Landing Craft (LLC) and associated assets as the Asset Class Prime Contractor.
