As our Technical Author, you will be responsible for preparing, developing, and updating material with guidance for incorporation into company publications or where Babcock has been identified as publication sponsor. You’ll develop knowledge, experience and skills and work with an encouraging team who support your career journey.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the preparation, development, and update of material, with guidance, for incorporation into Company publications or those where Babcock has been identified as publication sponsor covering:
- Authoring.
- Illustrations and graphics.
- Ensuring that publication format and content are conversant with Company and contractual requirements,
- Ensuring the relevancy and currency of publications through the inclusion of necessary new material and deletion of obsolete material.
- Plan, deliver and monitor own tasks, ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality and cost
- Produce (under guidance) technical documentation and solutions in support of assigned task (in accordance with applicable Delegation of Authority).
- Contribute to accurate and appropriate technical documentation records being securely developed and maintained in the appropriate data management system to support through life knowledge capture.
- Contribute to technical information presentation and discussion (including formal reviews) with customers (internal and external).
- Contribute to engineering /technical team decisions, understand why such decisions are made, and their relationship to project objectives.
- Have a basic understanding of the application of ILS and LSA principles and techniques in the development and maintenance of Mission and Support System documentation.
- Responsible for the Product Safety implications and consequences of their role in the Engineering Lifecycle.
- Conduct technical risk assessments
About you
You’re an analytical thinker with honed problem solving skills, driven by a positive attitude and desire to implement continuous improvement strategies. You have strong communication skills whether it be written or oral and have demonstrated ability to use initiative and prioritise your workload.
You”ll have the following:
- Typically have 1-2 years of experience authoring technical publications.
- A basic understanding of applicable ILS and Engineering Toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, modelling, design, simulation and analysis software).
- Hold a technical vocational qualification/certificate
