You’re a Field Engineer with a Mechanical background who is ready to take the reins of this role and be responsible for delivering front line engineering support and waterfront support to the LHD and LLC vessels in Potts Point.

 

You’ll be the go-to in ensuring that the vessels are kept in a safe and reliable state of operation in accordance with the requirements of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS).

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Foster and maintain customer and enterprise relationships;
  • Provide Problem Identification Report (PIR) responses for LLCS and LHDs for relevant Common Management Code (CMC) tasks, to the Platform and Production teams.  Note Engineering Change (EC) PIRs will require Engineering Design Authority Representative (DAR) sign off;
  • Conduct technical investigations and analysis for LHD and LHD Landing Crafts (LLC);
  • Provide Urgent Defect (URDEF) response and coordination on-board work to facilitate timely defect rectification;
  • Coordinate investigations into Standard Activity (SA) issues and initiate Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) to correct SAs as required, tracking and reporting on progress;
  • Undertake Work Instruction (WI) reviews providing advice to the Technical Authors on, as a minimum, the technical scope, task instructions, TML, document references and ITP content under their level of SQEP.  Note the EC WI will require Engineering DAR endorsement;
  • Conduct the physical Condition Assessments as needed on LLCs and those within relevant CMC field for LHDs 
  • Provide engineering/technical advice on the operation and maintenance of LLC, LHD and supporting systems;
  • Conduct all physical PCA’s on LLCs, and those within relevant CMC field on LHDs; and
  • Conduct tasking as directed by the Technical Services Manager.

 

About you

You’re a qualified engineer or have an advanced trade, with experience within the Defence industry and providing engineering support. You’re confident in the use of Microsoft Office and can build strong rapport with your team and external stakeholders. You don’t mind working autonomously but also enjoy working with others.

 

If you’ve for previous experience and knowledge of Landing Craft or Naval assets this is desirable, but if not, you will be guided by a team who support your learning and development.
